Who this article is for:

AutoFill is a fast organic growth simulation plugin, but that speed required some sacrifices. The system that underlies AutoFill is very different from the way After Effects itself works and at some points this can cause problems. However all these problems are easily solved and concern only animations inside AutoFill.

In this example you can see what happens when you have animated source (the logo was animated using Turbulence Displace before AutoFill in the effect stack) and you request a preview by scrubbing the timeline nonlinearly.

In this case the Resimulate button fixes this bug, but in this article we will explain how to avoid such issues.

<aside> 💡 In the case of glitches that cannot be solved with the Resimulate button. We recommend you to clean the cache beforehand and pre-render AutoFill result and then import this video back into the project. This way you will work with the video file which eliminates any problems.

AutoFill works predictably when you use the animation generated by AutoFill itself. However if you need to animate parameters within AutoFill, we recommend you click the Resimulate button. In case of any glitches pressing the Resimulate button will clear the cache and start playback from the beginning, correcting any errors.

Speed parameter animation.

We recommend that you set a minimum Speed rate and pre-render your AutoFill animation. Then import that video and use the default After Effects "Time Remap" function to animate the Autofill animation. Unfortunately, at the moment animation of Speed parameter leads to lags and frame jumps and we do not recommend animating this parameter.

The most reliable but slightly time-consuming solution that solves all the problems with glitches.

If you are using AutoFill with an animated source or video or you are animating any parameters within AutoFill, in this case the most reliable solution would be to clear the cache, render AutoFill as a video and then import that video into your project.

In which cases Pre-Render would be the best solution?
